Services

Three Fin partners with NGOs, United Nations Organisations, industry associations, financial institutions and others working towards an inclusive and sustainable financial system.

Each project is bespoke. We put together multidisciplinary teams with expertise in finance, economics, anthropology and law, among other disciplines, to meet the specific needs of each client. Typically we collaborate over a number of months, supporting clients to execute research projects, deliver campaigns, create training programmes, and put together communications strategies.

Delivering campaigns to bring about change in the financial system

To create change in the financial system, NGOs and civil society organizations need to speak the language of financial institutions and understand their priorities and pressure points, as well as align with wider campaigns.

We work with NGOs and international organizations to translate their social and environmental aims into campaigns targeting the financial sector. We create campaign strategies and materials designed to impact the financial institutions they need to reach.

We’ve supported WWF, for example, helping them to reach insurers as part of their campaign to protect free-flowing rivers. You can read a guide that was produced as part of this work, and see WWF’s feedback on the “superb” results here.

Designing inclusive financial products and services

There's nothing we enjoy more than getting to know what your clients need and want. We put those insights into practice, drawing on technical and market expertise, to design viable and valuable products for excluded customers. For other clients, we analyse existing products, processes or portfolios to understand how they can improve their offering.

We have a particular focus on designing products and services for two under-served groups: women and small business owners.

Creating pioneering trainings and guidance for the financial sector

The range of social, environmental and governance topics which financial institutions are expected to address is expanding rapidly - and rightly so. With climate topics now advanced, nature is now firmly on the agenda. And efforts to address gaps in access to and use of finance and insurance tools are proliferating in development and industry circles.

To keep up, the financial sector needs access to data, information and guidance on these topics, as well as to dramatically increase the capacity of its staff. We support them to do so by creating pioneering guidance and training for the finance sector on sustainability and inclusion topics.

In 2019, Alice authored the first insurance industry guide on plastic pollution for UNEP’s Principles for Sustainable Insurance. More recently, we supported ClientEarth’s briefing series highlighting the emerging legal liability risks associated with plastics. We also have extensive experience designing and delivering professional training packages for the financial services industry, which have been offered through industry associations, international organization programmes, and industry training bodies in several countries.

Conducting in-depth research into sustainability and inclusion topics

Strong research is at the heart of our work.

We carry out research to understand the needs and perspectives of excluded customers, with a particular focus on women and small businesses. These projects often consist of coordinating large research projects directly with excluded customer groups and stakeholders.

In addition, we conduct global research and data analysis on sustainability and inclusion topics in the financial sector.

In both cases, we focus on putting together actionable insights and recommendations, tailored to the strategy of your business or organisation.
